Tuve la oportunidad de viajar por Cholula, Puebla, la semana pasada. Admiré las bellas construcciones y la zona arqueológica acompañado de varios periodistas internacionales. El viaje comenzó en el museo local y continuó con la visita a la afamada iglesia de Cholula. No sin antes cruzar el estrecho tunel donde podrás cerciorarte si eres claustrofóbico o no.

I had the opportunity to travel to Cholula, Puebla, last week. I admired the beautiful buildings and archaeological zone accompanied by several international journalists. The trip started at the local museum and continued with a visit to the famous church of Cholula. But before of the magic, we had to cross the narrow tunnel where you can make sure if you are claustrophobic or not.
Existen varios túneles que rodean la base de la pirámide que se ve en la primera imagen, pero sólo un camino está abierto al pública, pues representaría un riesgo que la gente estuviera en contacto con la pirámide y con las pinturas murales que se encuentran alrededor. Mi recomendación es evitar el túnel si se padece claustrofobia, y más aún si hay mucha gente, pues puedes tardar varios minutos dentro.
Después de salir del túnel nos encontramos con la ciudad y zona arqueológica de Cholula, y en lo alto se apreciaba la iglesia. No me pude resistir y subí por dos razones: admirar la iglesia y encantarme con la vista de la ciudad desde la cima de la pirámide, ahora representada por una construcción religiosa.

There are several tunnels around the base of the pyramid as you can see in the first picture, but only one path is open to the public, it would be a risk that people were in contact with the pyramid and the murals that are around. My recommendation is to avoid the tunnel if you suffer claustrophobia, and even more if there are many people, because it can take several minutes inside.
After exiting the tunnel we found the archaeological city of Cholula, and atop of the pyramid, the church was sited. I could not resist to climbed because of two reasons: Admire the church and be charmed by the view of the city from the top of the pyramid, now represented by a religious building.
La visita fue maravillosa, pero no fue sino hasta que me miré en un espejo que me di cuenta que estaba quemado por la exposición al sol. Para mí las quemaduras son muy serias, nunca me ha gustado exponerme al sol para broncearme, siempre uso protector solar, pero lo olvidé esta vez y en el rostro se notaban las consecuencias.
Aprovecho este post para compartir información que encontré sobre una campaña que busca la prevención del cáncer de piel. Siempre debemos protegernos al viajar y no está de más conocer la opinión de los expertos sobre nuestra piel y hábitos de cuidado de la misma.
Encontré que La Roche-Posay ya está trabajando en este tema, educando a la sociedad para hacerla consciente sobre los riesgos de la exposición solar y así lograr que la gente adopte una conducta responsable ante el sol. Creo que ya no seré el único con esta preocupación.
Para ello hay tres pasos:
- Prevención: Foto protección en su rutina diaria
- Revisión: Auto evaluación de lunares
- Consulta: Visitar al dermatólogo por lo menos una vez al año.
Siguiendo estos tres pasos, no tendrás de que preocuparte cada que viajes y te expongas al sol. Por si esto no fuera suficiente, también me enteré que mañana 24 de marzo de 09:00 a 13:00, habrá un día de revisión de lunares en la glorieta del Ángel de la Independencia sobre la Avenida Paseo de la Reforma.
Es una gran campaña que va de la mano con lo que viví y que nos ayuda a todos a prevenir el cáncer de piel. No dejes pasar esta oportunidad de revisarte bajo el conocimiento de más de 50 dermatólogos de la Sociedad mexicana de Dermatología, y si creías que sólo en DF habría revisiones, te informo que también en Guadalajara y Monterrey, el mismo día a la misma hora.

Creo que iré por un Anthelios para usarlo en mi próximo viaje y que no me vuelva a pasar lo que en Cholula.

The visit was wonderful, but it was not until I looked in the mirror I realized I was burnt by sun exposure. For me the burns are very serious, I never liked to expose myself to the sun, always I use sunscreen, but I forgot this time and the consequences were apparent in my face.
I take this post to share information I found of a campaign to prevent skin cancer. We must always protect us when traveling and it is worth knowing the opinion of the experts on our skin care habits.
I found that La Roche-Posay is already working on this issue, educating the society to make it aware of the risks of sun exposure and so getting people to adopt responsible behavior to the sun. I think I will not be the only one with this concern.
For this there are three steps:
Prevention: Photo protection into your daily routine
Review: Self-Evaluation of moles
Consultation: Visit a dermatologist at least once a year.
Following these three steps, you will not have to worry every time you travel and expose yourself to the sun. As if that was not enough, I also learned that tomorrow, March 24 from 09:00 to 13:00, there will be a moles review day in the square of the Angel of Independence on Paseo de la Reforma Avenue.
It’s a great campaign that goes along with what I experienced and that helps us all to prevent skin cancer. Do not miss this opportunity to check you with the knowledge of over 50 dermatologists of the Mexican Society of Dermatology, and if you thought would only DF will have revisions, you should know that also in Guadalajara and Monterrey will have them, the same day at the same time.

I think I’ll buy Anthelios to use on my next trip and it would not repeat again what was happend in Cholula.
