Recámaras de ensueño // Dreamy Bedrooms

Uno de los cuartos más importantes de cualquier casa es la recámara. En ella se pasa la mayor parte del tiempo y comprende un espacio personal que pocos “Espero” pueden traspasar.

Hoy comparto algunas fotos de recámaras de ensueño que nos hacen recordar que la nuestra necesita algunos ajustes. Si estás a punto de remodelar tu recámara, no está de más que revises las fotos y te des algunas ideas de diseño.

One of the most important rooms in any house is the bedroom. Where we spend most of the time and it’s our personal space that few ones (Well, i hope) can trespass it.

Today I share some dreamy photos of bedrooms that remind us that ours needs some adjustments. If you’re about to remodel your bedroom, it is worth you to review the photos and give yourself some design ideas.

Sé que no he escrito en mucho tiempo, pero te aseguro que todavía tengo muchas historias que contar. Como la que viví en Portland.

Un día lluvioso enmarcó mi visita al evento del mes en Portland, Oregon. Se le llama “Street of Dreams”, una calle donde se construyeron casas que cuestan una fortuna, equipadas con alta tecnología, y muebles de diseñador; donde el detalle y la perfección van de la mano.

Te compartiré las fotos de las casas y de algunas habitaciones. Estoy seguro que algunas decoraciones son el sueño de muchos. Por cierto, compartiré más imágenes sobre el evento, en compilados especializados. Espéralos.

I know I have not written in a while, but I assure, that I still having so many stories to tell you. As the one I lived in Portland.

A rainy day framed my visit to the event of the month in Portland, Oregon. It’s called “Street of Dreams”, a street where houses that cost a fortune were built, these were equipped with high technology, and designer furniture, where detail and perfection go hand in hand.

I share the photos of the houses and some rooms. I’m sure some decorations are the dream of many. By the way, I will share more pictures of the event, in specialized posts. Wait for them.

Un paseo por Mount Rainier // Hiking the Mount Rainier

He visto en muchas postales el Gran Mount Rainier y alguna que otra ocasión en vivo también. Digo alguna que otra, porque la mayoría de la veces está cubierto por niebla y no se alcanza a ver del todo.

Inspirado por la aventura y un poco por el ejercicio, decidí escalar la montaña y tratar de ser parte de ella por unas horas. Así emprendí mi viaje.

El camino es largo, boscoso y hermoso (001*). Caminos como éste son una buena inspiración para el pensamiento, aunque debo admitir que fue muy grato ver el letrero que indicaba la bienvenida a Mount Rainier (002*), aunque pagar por seguir no fue tan grato. Pero después de la experiencia, créeme, es muy recomendable. (003*)

Siguiendo el camino llegué al primer mirador donde la niebla me recibió (004*). Después de una parada obligada, seguí hasta llegar a Sunrise, el sitio de partida donde se pueden comprar víveres para sobrevivir durante la escalada. Yo compré unas nueces, almendras y chocolates para resistir. (010*)

Comencé mi viaje con entusiasmo pero con los zapatos equivocados. Digo, no todos los días se escala una montaña de la mano de unos TOMS (Nota: Esto no es publicidad) Sé que hice mal, pero al final lo logré.

El camino fue hermoso, niebla por doquier y muchos caminos a seguir, pero te aseguro que lo volveré a hacer. Aquí algunas fotos. Por cierto, las mejores imágenes fueron: Frozen Lake (008* – Que estaba congelado sólo por la mitad) y el lago al final del precipicio (013*).

… Ah, se me olvidaba algo. Tomé un video del momento en que la niebla se comió a la montaña. Es muy relajante. Espero lo disfrutes.

I have seen many postcards of the Grand Mount Rainier and occasional I saw it by my own eyes. It’s rarely because most of the time is covered by fog and is hard to see at all.

Inspired by adventure and a little because of the exercise, I decided to climb the mountain and try to be part of it for a few hours. Thus began my journey.

The road was long, wooded and beautiful (001*). Roads like this are perfect time for inspiration, although I must admit it was great to see the welcome sign of Mount Rainier (002*), but pay was not so pleasant. But after the experience, believe me, is highly recommended. (003*)

Following the road came the first viewpoint where the mist received me (004*). After an obligatory stop I went up to Sunrise, site where you can buy food to survive during hiking. I bought some walnuts, almonds and chocolates to resist. (010*)

I started my journey with enthusiasm but with the wrong shoes. I mean, not every day I hiked the Rainier wearing TOMS (Note: This is not advertising) I know I did wrong, but at the end I succeeded.

The road was beautiful, mist everywhere and many paths to discover, but I assure you, I will do it again. Here are some pictures for you. By the way, the best ones were: Frozen Lake (008* – That was only half frozen) and the Lake at the end of the cliff (013*).

… Oh, I almost forgot something. I took a video of how the fog ate the mountain. It’s very relaxing. Hope you enjoy.

Una cupcakería con AMOR // A cupcakery with LOVE

En mi búsqueda de lugares con AMOR, decidí emprender un recorrido por el centro de Renton (Una ciudad cercana a Seattle). Debo confesar que no hay mucho que hacer, hay algunas tiendas de antigüedades, una de comics, algunos restaurantes y poca gente en las calles, algo que yo aprecio.

Llegué caminando a una cupcakería llamada Common Ground Coffee and Cupcakes, y fue allí donde encontré un lugar de AMOR, donde el ambiente, la comida y el servicio te hacen sentir querido. Los lugares con AMOR son espacios donde se respira pasión y gusto por lo que se hace. Se descartan las cadenas de comida rápida, las franquicias, y demás lugares donde sólo se busca cumplir con procesos, y se cambian por sitios únicos.

El saludo de bienvenida fue la primera señal de AMOR, seguido de la vitrina de cupcakes que mostraban una pequeña pero apetitosa variedad de panecillos. Elegí el Caramelicious y un frappuccino para acompañar mi mañana.

Desde la primera mordida fuí cautivado por el sabor del frosting y el suave cupcake que se mezclaban en una danza de sabor en mi boca. En cuanto al frappuccino, además del sabor, aprecié la consistencia y uniformidad de sabor. No me gusta cuando los cafés o frappes al cabo de un rato se separan y arriba del vaso queda el agua y abajo el sabor. Aquí no pasó eso y fue muy agradable.

Por cierto, me enteré que si no te gusta ningún cupcake de los que tienen expuestos, puedes solicitar algún otro y te lo decoran al momento. Así podrás tener un cupcake especial para ti cada día. (Sin olvidar que podrás elegir el sabor del pan: Chocolate, vainilla o red velvet)

In my search for “places with LOVE”, I decided to take a tour to downtown Renton (A city near Seattle). I must confess that there is not to much to do, there are some antique shops, a comics hut, some restaurants and few people walking on the streets, something I appreciate.

I went into a cupcakery called Common Ground Coffee and Cupcakes, and I found a place of LOVE, where the atmosphere, food and service makes you feel beloved. The LOVE places, are stores where you are able to feel the sense of love for what they do. Discarded fast food chains, franchises, and other places where only seeks to comply with processes, and all of this is replaced by unique passion.

The welcome greeting was the first sign of LOVE, followed by cupcakes showcase where a small but tasty variety of cupcakes were exposed. I chose the Caramelicious and a frappuccino.

From the first bite I was captivated by the taste of the frosting and the soft bread that mingled in a dance of taste in my mouth. And the frappuccino, besides flavor, I appreciated the consistency and uniformity of the beverage. I hate when the frappe coffees, after a while the water split to the flavor.

By the way, I know that if you do not like any exposed cupcake, you can ask for another flavor and they will do it for you at the moment. So you can have a special cupcake for you every day. (Also, you may choose the flavor of the bread between: Chocolate, vanilla or red velvet)

What more can you ask!

Cómo fue el Art Walk // How the art walk was

Debo admitir que fue un poco complicado saber como funcionaba el Art Walk en Seattle, porque no había señalamientos por ningún lugar y la única ayuda era un sitio de internet que no era muy útil para los recién llegados. Si quieres saber como lo conseguí, la respuesta es sencilla, preguntando.

En la mañana fui acompañado por un amigo que me mostró partes de la ciudad que no conocía y en donde se suponía que el Art Walk se establecería. Así llegamos a Pioneer Square donde había un pequeño mercado con algunas pinturas, joyería e información turística. Yo rogué que eso no fuera todo el evento, porque sería decepcionante.

Esperé hasta que dieran las 6 de la tarde cuando se suponía que comenzaría legalmente el recorrido. Terminé entrevistándome con el dueño de la galería Behr quién me llevó personalmente a la exposición principal donde se encontraban las galerías que aloja el Pike Place Market. Una de ellas The Studio. Allí conseguí más información y comencé mi caminata hacia otras galerías.

Regresé a Pioneer Square y seguí el río de gente quienes me condujeron a un callejón y consecutivamente a la entrada de una galería. Encontré cuadros que movieron mis sentidos y durante toda la noche seguí caminando en búsqueda de pieza de arte. Aquí te comparto algunas fotos.

Espero que el próximo mes la organización sea mejor y por supuesto ser invitado a las fiestas privadas.

I have to admit it was a bit tricky to know how the Art Walk in Seattle works, because there were no badges, signs anywhere and the only help was a website that was not very useful for newcomers. If you want to know how I get the information, the answer is simple, asking people.

In the morning I went with a friend who showed me places of the city that I didn’t know and where there were supposed to be established the Art Walk. Thus we come to Pioneer Square where there was a small market with some paintings, jewelry and tourist information. I begged that wasn’t the entire event, because it would be disappointing.

I waited until the 6 pm when legally assumed to begin the tour. I ended up interviewing me with the Behr gallery owner who personally took me to the main exhibition where were hosting the Pike Place Market art galleries. Like The Studio. There I got more information and started my walk to the other galleries.

I returned to Pioneer Square and followed the stream of people who led me to an alley and consecutively to the entrance of a gallery. I found pictures that moved my senses and all night I kept walking, looking for pieces of art. Here I share some photos.

I hope that next month the organization will be better and of course be invited to the private parties.

Seattle Art Museum

Estaba de paseo por el centro de Seattle y decidí visitar el museo de arte, por dos razones: me encanta ese museo y sus exposiciones – y porque hoy es el primer jueves del mes, lo cual quiere decir que la entradas es libre. Muchos museos respetan el primer jueves de mes y abren sus puertas a todos los visitantes, nacionales o extranjeros. Así que si te gustan los museos, ya sabes que día es el ideal para visitarlos.

Hoy me sorprendí con una exposición temporal sobre 30 años de moda japonesa. Si estás por la ciudad no dudes en asistir. Lamentablemente estaba prohibido tomar fotos porque el museo no tiene los derechos así que sólo pude captar algunos modelos (ilegalmente).

I was walking by the downtown Seattle and I decided to visit the Art Museum, for two reasons: I love this Museum and its temporary exhibitions – and because today is the first Thursday of the month, which means that the entry is free. Many museums respect the first Thursday of each month and open their doors to visitors, nationals or foreigners, without cost. So if you are into the museums life, now you know when in the right day to visit them.

Today I was surprised with a temporary exhibition on 30 years of Japanese fashion. If you are in the city, please do not hesitate to attend. Unfortunately, it was forbidden to take pictures because the Museum has no rights so I could only capture some models (illegally).

Explorando Pike Place Market // Exploring

Si estás en el centro de Seattle, será mejor que destines un día para visitar el mercado local. Como en todas las ciudades, hay gente que se establece en la calle para vender sus productos, ya sean hechos en casa, cultivados de manera orgánica o simplemente lo que ya no quieren. Pero si eres de los que prefiere comprar en lugares establecidos, también hay espacio para ti.

If you’re in Downtown Seattle, you have to spend one day and visit Pike Place Market. As in all cities, there are people who are established in the street selling their products, whether homemade, organically grown or just the stuff they do not want anymore. But if you are someone who prefers to buy in established places, there is also market for you.

Pike Place Market es el lugar que visité hoy. Muchos pensarán que es un lugar pequeño donde se venden toda clase de mariscos, frutas, semillas, flores, quesos y otros alimentos, pero la maravilla está en explorar los 3 pisos que componen este mercado, no te quedes sólo con la experiencia de las primeras tiendas.

Yo bajé uno a uno los pisos y me encontré con una tienda de comics donde puedes encontrar guiones de películas, piezas de acción, comics, dvd de anime y mucho más. Su nombre es Golden Age Collectables.

Pike Place Market is the place I visited today. Many think it is a small place where all kind of seafood, fruits, seeds, flowers, cheeses and other food are sold, but the wonder is in exploring the 3 floors of this market.  Do not stay at the first shop.

I went down stairs one by one, and found a comic book store where you can find movie scripts, action pieces, comics, anime dvds and more. The store name is Golden Age Collectables.

Otro lugar que llamó mi atención fue una tienda de magia, donde por unos cuantos dólares una adivina te dirá la suerte. Si entras a Magic Shop encontrarás trucos kits completos para sorprender a tus amigos o hijos (Cual sea el caso).

Another place that caught my attention was a magic shop, where for a few dollars a fortune teller tells your luck. If you go into to the Magic Shop you will find complete tricks kits to amaze your friends or children (Whatever the case).

Y el toque mexicano no podría faltar. Encontré una tienda latina, donde el vendedor era un asiático (Hay algo más extraño?),aunque encontré otra de joyería y alebrije en donde los mismos Diego y Frida me recibieron. Había artesanía traída de todas partes de México, desde el barro hasta la talavera. La verdad me dieron ganas de comprar muchas cosas, pero estaban carísimas, así que preferí esperar a regresar a México y comprarlas allá.

And the Mexican flair I could not miss. I found a Latin store where the seller was Asian (Is there anything else strange?) But I also found a jewelry and alebrije shop, where Diego and Frida welcomed me. There were crafts brought from all parts of Mexico, from the mud to the talavera. Actually I wanted to buy many things, but they were very expensive, so I decided to wait until I return to Mexico and buy them there.

Para el final les dejo el mejor lugar que encontré en Pike Place Market, se llama “The Studio” y se sitúa en el tercer piso hacia abajo. Es una galería de arte con mucho color, que alteró mis sentidos y no pude resistir tomar unas cuantas fotos Les dejo algunas a ver que opinan.

Por cierto, entrevisté a una de las dueñas y me comentó que el jueves habrá un ArtWalk por Downtown Seattle así que allí estaré.

By the end I departed the best place I found in Pike Place Market is called “The Studio”.  It is located on the third floor down. It is an art gallery with lots of color.  I mean everywhere, which altered my senses and I could not resist taking a few pictures. Here there are some photos.  let me know what you think.

By the way, I interviewed one of the owners and she told me that on Thursday there will be an ArtWalk in Downtown Seattle so I will be there.

La niebla lo consume todo // The consuming fog

El mar se esconde tras la neblina que cubre el muelle y se come poco a poco los edificios cercanos a Pike Place Market. Las fauces de la niebla se abren para atragantarse de las grandes construcciones como si de ello dependiera su existencia, así se van consumiendo uno a uno los rascacielos.

Yo permanezco sentado mirando hacia donde se debería vislumbrar el mar, aunque en ese momento no había nada más que nubes blancas. Me encuentro acompañado de mis pensamientos y de mi libreta de viaje. La compañía de una rueda de la fortuna no hace más ameno el momento, y no es hasta 30 minutos más tarde que la niebla satisfecha comienza a alejarse. Se difumina segundo a segundo hasta quedar completamente extinta, y el acontecimiento queda marcado por el sonar de la locomotora de un barco que anuncia su llegada a tierra.

La gente comenzó a poblar la plaza en el que me encontraba, así que decidí moverme y explorar nuevas rutas y caminos. Cuando no se tiene un destino fijo, es fácil seguir a la corriente de gente para dejarse sorprender con nuevos sitios y vistas. Así lo hice y llegué a Waterfront Park, lugar donde se encuentra el acuario local. Había un mar de niños que decidieron visitar el lugar el mismo día que yo. Como el ruido me disturbó un poco, me coloqué los audífonos y escuché un poco de jazz.

Caminé rodeando el muelle acompañado del característico olor a mar y pescado. Sentí como se impregnaba en mi nariz al momento de asomarme al agua y sorprenderme al ver varias medusas merodeando el muelle. Como policías vigilando la frontera.

Mientras estaba recargado me percaté que me balanceaba como si estuviera en un barco. Mi sorpresa fue que no estaba temblando, sino que el fuerte viento me movía de un lado a otro, como una madre mece a su bebe en la cuna. Antes de caer al suelo, preferí sentarme en una de las sillas amarillas que están dispuestas para tal motivo.

Estuve admirando el mar y la gente pasar por unos minutos hasta que me di cuenta que no estaba usando bloqueador y decidí continuar con mi camino tratando de descubrir otros sitios con estilo.

The fog covers the sea which sits behind the dock and slowly eats the buildings near Pike Place Market. The jaws of the fog open to choke the great buildings as if his life depended on it and are consumed one by one the skyscrapers.

I sat looking towards where  the sea should be, although at that time there was nothing but white clouds. I am accompanied by my thoughts and my travel book. The company of a Ferris Wheel nearby still does not provide enough amusement, and it is not until 30 minutes later does the fog begins to walk away satisfied. It blurs every second until it is completely extinct, and the event is marked by the sound of the horn of a boat Announcing landfall.

People began to populate the place where I was, so I decided to move and explore new paths and roads. When one does not have a fixed destination, it’s easy to follow the flow of people and be surprised with new sites and views. So I did and I arrived at Waterfront Park, where the local aquarium is located. There was a sea of children who were visiting the same place as me. As the noise disturbed me a little, I put on my headphones and listened to some jazz music.

I walked round the dock accompanied by the characteristic smell of the sea and fish. I felt like my nose was impregnated by the smells when I peeked into the water and was surprised to see several jellyfish prowling the wharf. As if they were policemen guarding the border.

While I realized I was swaying back and forth as if i was rocking while on a boat. My surprise was that I was swaying by the strong wind moving me from side to side, like a mother rocking her baby in the crib. Before I fell to the ground, I sat in one of the yellow chairs arranged for that reason.

I was admiring the sea and the people for a few minutes until I realized I was not using sunscreen and I decided to continue my journey looking for other stylish destinations.

Existen lugares de ensueño que parecen creación de la imaginación o escenarios de una película, pero muchas veces la realidad supera la ficción o la inspira. Si no me crees, debes ver algunos lugares maravillosos que encontré, y que estoy seguro querrás visitar.

Una mirada a Puerto Vallarta // Take a look to Puerto Vallarta

La oferta turística de México es muy amplia. Hace algunos años se dividía en: Turismo de aventura, sol y playa, cultura, arqueología. Ahora ha crecido la diversidad y se agregaron sectores que impulsan más el turismo hacia el país. Tal es el caso del turismo de salud, bodas, sustentable, y por supuesto las rutas de México y los Pueblos Mágicos.

Hace algún tiempo viajé a Puerto Vallarta, un destino de sol y playa y encontré espacios de ensueño, con ello me refiero a sus sitios que te gustaría congelar y conservar en tu memoria por siempre. Lugares románticos y con sensibilidad propia. Hoy les comparto algunos de estos sitios que valen mucho la pena.

Mexico’s tourism offering is huge.  A few years ago it was divided into; Adventure, sun and beach, culture and archeology. The diversity has now grown and Mexico has added more sectors driving tourism to the country. Such is the case of health tourism, weddings, sustainable, and of course Mexico routes and Magic Towns.

Some time ago I traveled to Puerto Vallarta, a Sun and Beach destination, and I found my dream places, with that I mean, sites you would like to freeze and keep in your memory forever. Romantic Places full of sensitivity. Today I share some of these sites that are well worth viewing.
